start buy uninstalling the pack ...(from what you say - I assume you can start in safe mode? - it should be in add remove)
so shouldn't be hard to do.
if you didn't keep the uninstall ... you are best doing a crash and burn ...
install drivers ... then the pack ... if all is OK ....then restore your other progs.
good as new

To ACthe Troll and Mac70, Hallo , After 2 weeks I just got on this morning after 2 weeks of looping. Hadnt read your messages because I live in the mountains in Spain and only get down to a cibercafe once a week. I was suspect of SP3 and AV8 and spoke top my son in London about uninstalling them but he was a bit wary of the SP3 as it has been in over a month and may leave some pieces behind.
So I told him on the phone that I would take AVG 8 out. This I did and when it had finished, there was my desktop at last.
Thanks for your help , I have written down your comments as Maybe things are not over yet. Now I have no antivirus,
I have the windows firewall and Defender and also the Spybot search and destroy. Am I in a hurry for a new antivirus ? Avast free home edition seems well spoken of but somebody says it can take nearly 2 hours to download updates. I am on wi-fi and internet can have short breaks so I am worried this may happen in an update and cause problems...will it ? Thanks again lads.. Almendros
