laptop failure

my son's lap top has suddenly gone off no power etc.fuses have been checked. i suspect power unit failure .if so what is likely cost of repair?

difficult - how certain are you?

a replacement will cost anywhere fron �35 - �125.
(look for universal ones as well)

try removing the battery and run just from mains power
if you have a spare cord .... try that.

do any of his friends have the same/similar models?

at a pinch ... if you take it to pc world they might just have a unit they could prove the fault with - you then run away and buy one at a decent price
