When I click to open up FireFox browser, it takes a full 5 mins to become operational, is there any way to speed this up?, any help would be appreciated.

Firefox does take longer to open than Internet Explorer (although, of course, it's much quicker from there on). However, if it's taking 5 minutes to load (and other programs are loading normally), you've got a corrupt file somewhere.

Reinstall Firefox. There's no need to uninstall it first; you'll find that all of your bookmarks and settings are preserved.

Buenchico, Thanks, but I tried what you suggested, and there was no change in speeding up the loading time.
I Then did checks on the PC:-Error check, AVG virus check,Registry clean,Anti Rootkit check & Maliceous software removal tool check. Then Re-installed firefox but the result was still the same as before, 5 Mins. to load up.
Thanks,
Grant
Do other programs suffer the same delay as FF when starting up? If so it could be your hard disk does not have enough free space for system swap files, or possibly you need more RAM.

Change your FF home page to be blank rather than opening to a page which may have adverts which are taking time to load, as sometimes happens here on AB.

To Buenchico and webdude,
from suggestions in firefox HELP, I opened up in safe mode,
deleted a few add ons which should not have been there and have got firefox back to fast loading again, seemingly some add ons will make a browser crash or hang.
Thanks to both of you for your help,
much appreciated!!.
