the complaint is GONE very slow ...
norton was already installed - and before it "gone very slow" - presumably it "gone quite fast"
I agree that norton got a bad rep but it was norton 2006 that was the culprit that started this brainless trend to "just remove it"- like all modern protection the package requires a reasonable spec to run - but provides all types of protection in one package
the reason it's difficult to uninstall - is that if it was easy - it wouldn't stand up against attacks
so why recommend removing something which gives far superior protection for an inferior freebie which only runs faster because it fails to monitor 70% of the services ?

Symantec deserves praise for trying to address criticism, and the overall degree of protection offered by Norton Internet Security 2008 is better than many other packages we've seen. At 35 for three PCs, it's one of the better-value options, too. Next to Kaspersky, however, it still looks like a work in progress
Still, Norton AntiVirus is a polished program that provides protection in the most important areas. It is easy to use and, despite costing 10 more than McAfee VirusScan, has advanced slightly further since the previous version
if it is to be removed - kaspersky would be (IS) the choice I went for
