leading zero in excel

My leading zero doesn't show up in Excel. I try to input 0800 and what I get is 800.00.
I've tried Format/Cells/Custom but none of the options seem to work. Any thoughts guys?

With Custom formatting, what you are seeing is a sample of what you can do. You need to add your own format, by typing in to the custom format box. To get 0800 fhen type a format of 0000.

...or you can simply type an apostrophe before the number
e.g. '0800

if it's a list
either select the entire column/row and format it as text
or separate the number with spaces 0800 000 000
