please help me the clock is ticking

so when i plug a camera into my computer it is recognised etc but wen I open MY COMPUTER it is nowhere to be seen. this is a duplicate question i know but i have a very limited time to get these photos sorted out. Cheers :)

Your camera may have become one of the other drive letters.

If you open up "My Computer" you normally see a "C" drive which is your hard disk and maybe a "D" drive for your CD.

You may have other letters depending how many hard drives or CD drives you have.

Your camera will usually then become the next "free" letter, such as E, F, G or whatever.

I have both Windows XP and Vista and when I plug my camera in I get a window up which asks what I want to do now - and one of the options is to download the pictures.

yes but when I plug it in there are no additional drives in MY COMPUTER. MY COMPUTER remains unchanged. is there anothere route of accessing it? There are no options too

i take it you have a USB connection? doesnt it run automatically bringing up a box where you can choose to 'look at the files' or similar?

You could try Start, Control panel, Cameras & Scanners or something in there like that?

tried that mate. its really confusing me! it does the same with a memory stick. it recognises it but doesnt show in my computer

OK can't really help but an idea - try a search for images. If it finds the ones you took, then you should be able to properly find/save them.

Have you looked for messages on the camera?
When I plug my Olympus in, the computer recognizes it right away, but at the same time a message pops up on the camera asking me to confirm the connection. I can't see it as a disk drive until I press the OK button on the camera.

On mine (a Canon) the camera has to be turned on and the 'menue' button on the back of the camera has to be pressed, and then I get a screen asking me what I want to do.

Get a card reader and transfer your photos direct from memory card to computer

you can usually right click on "my computer" then click explore and under "my computer" you can usually see the drive listed there
sometimes a trojan can infect an external drive and stop you from seeing it , if this is the case you should do a scan of the pc
