Use of Microsoft installed hard disk.

I am giving one of my spare hard disks to a friend who needs a spare to install. My disk has Windows XP installed and he is unsure whether this will contravene Microsoft warranty if he installs it. I am also unsure so adsvvice please.

You can't move a hard drive with XP on it to another computer, it will fail with an error during boot.

Windows will need to be re installed on the new computer, as long as his computer has a license sticker on it then just install using that number and all will be ok

Thank you but he already has windows installed which is why I was confused about the possible problem about fitting the second disk.
Whack in the second disk, make sure the jumper is at the slave setting, make sure your friend's machine is booting to his original disk in the bios and viola - your friend now has two HDs
