Link won't work

Sometimes when I click on a webpage link an audible click is heard and a yellow flash with an exclamation mark within appears by the cursor. I do not get connected. What does this mean?

It sounds like your computer has some kind of filtering or pop-up blocker that has decided you musn't see that website.
Does a pale pink bar appear at the top of your browser saying 'pop up blocked' or something similar?
