hard drive issue

hi ive just tried to turn my desktop pc on and it was making a excessive noise when trying to start up. i got nothing going to the moniter which just kept turning off.

If the noise was a bit like a coffee grinder, it sounds like your fan's gone. You can replace this yourself if you know what you're doing, but otherwise you'll need to either take the box to a repair shop or get someone in.
