Win32WinSpy in Ubuntu
5 Answers
I am running Ubuntu through Wubi on Vista Home Premium . I ran a virus scan in Windows using Avast! Normally I just run a standard scan but today I ran a thorough one . It picked up Win32WinSpy in C:\ubuntu\disks\root disk as a Trojan Horse .
I deleted it to the recycle bin then attempted to start Ubuntu which failed . So I went back into Windows restored the file & Ubuntu started fine .
New to Ubuntu & have hardly used it so very confused here .
I am in Vista now .
Any advice please?

It's most likely a false positive, as Chuck says.
If you're bothered, and don't really use Ubuntu, a nice way to try it out is to burn the download file to a CD, which can be used straight from the CD. That way it takes up no space on your hard drive, and doesn't affect your hard drive either. Once you've finished playing, just press the restart button, take out your CD, and you're back into Windows with Windows being none the wiser.
