It could be that your computer is infected with malware. I know you did a scan, but you didn't say what anti-virus program you have. For example Norton, AVG, Avast and many other anti-virus programs can't detect spyware or other malicious programs, especially adware. You have to scan your PC with Spyware Doctor from

You can scan with both programs to ensure that your PC is not infected.
Then you can use CCleaner from

Also open Task Manager and check all running processes. If one or more processes use many RAM it could be your problem.
