HP All-in-one-Printer

I have had this printer for just over two years and the scanner has stopped working. I get a mess that says there is an error in communicating with the device. The Printer part works perfectly. I have uninstalled and re-installed all to no avail. I have downloaded a driver for this model from HP but it still won't work. Anyone any ideas?. When I downloaded the driver I clicked on Run and not save perhaps may be I should have clicked on Save?

I have an HP different model to yours but have the same problem I solve this by START then Programmes find the program HP and select SOLUTION CENTER from there I am able to scan Hope this helps
