Please could anyboby direct me to a site that explains the workings of those single wheeled (actually 2 side by side), platforms used by tv camera crews seen at the golf tournaments? Am I at the correct topic or should I enquire at Technology.

What do you want to know about them?

they are a giro-stabilised camera mount to keep the camera level and shake free and typically transmit the picture wirelessly back to a central receive location (or two) around the course using a 2.4Ghz point to point microwave link.

thanks CF. It was the workings of the buggy that intriques me. Obviously some kind of gyro in use. Picture (the only one I could find) here http://www.golf-month...oadcast-coverage.html Thinking, does it work on the principle of the Honda Mobile Chair on this site sent to me YouTube - U3-X Personal Mobility Prototype .
Oh right...

The thing the bloke is standing on is a segway

http://www.segway.com/

which are gyro stabilised, computer controlled buggies (for want of another word!) the cameraman is also holding the camera in another gryo stabilised camera mount. it's obviously raining that day because the camera has the waterproof cover on it, but you can just see the clip on wireless transmitter and more visible is the aerial on the top of the camera.
They are great fun and once you have got over the 15 second "I must be going to fall over" feeling, easy to ride. When we go on holiday we always go for a Segway tour at wherever we are. If you want to buy one, they are around £4000 new, though you can get second hand on e bay and the like.
