Epson Stylus SX415 Printer

I bought this printer about 4 months ago - it has just developed a problem - when trying to print out a letter I typed yesterday, it misses lines out, only printing parts of it.

Have just discovered it will print o.k in a different colour but not in black - have checked all the relevant bits and pieces, changed all the inks, but it still does it.

Can't find my receipt, otherwise it would go back to the shop.

Any ideas ?

When my printer acts like this I run the head cleaning process in the maintenance tab. Sometimes takes a couple of runs to clear the problem

Just a thought about this..........are you using original Epson Cartridges or the equivalent cheaper substitutes ? That may be what the problem is as the Printer may only recognise Epson Cartridges.

Hiya Red - the cartridge make is 'Think' but it only appears to be the black one that keeps missing lines and won't print - all the colours seem fine.

I have an Epson Stylus SX415 and from the beginning I have been using genuine Epson cartridges available through Amazon from £23 free p&p. I have used compatibles and remanufactured cartridges in the past which caused occasional 'blips' so for £5.60 each I am not having to pay someone to help me.

Exactly the same problem as me!! I bought some compatible cartridges which caused the error 'cartridge not recognised'. I changed all four which temporarily solved the problem. Soon afterwards, the black failed to print even though ALL other colours would. I sent the printer back to Epson and they sent a replacement (even though I have used compatibles) Now, I have the same problem with the replacement. Head cleaning does nothing so forget it. So now....It's GOING! I'm buying a Kodak
