hard drives

I have just bought a new desktop pc runing windows 7,and I also have a older pc with windows xp. The problem is I would like to have the contents of that old hard drive on to my new pc. Could I put the old hard drive into my new pc and get the contents that way.By the way the old pc doesnt actually work so I would have to take it out anyway.So is there some other way of doing this.

You would be able to add it as an additional hard drive. However, you'd be unlikely to be able to use it as the machine's main hard drive without some serious modification due to the different hardware...

You might be able to add it as an extra internal drive, however.... the older computer has a good chance of having an IDE hard drive and it's fairly normal these days for new computers not to have IDE interfaces on the main boards (SATA only)

I'd say an external USB hard drive caddy is your best bet.

Get yourself a usb transfer cable which is obtained at your local electronics store. With this all you have to do is to boot both computers connect the cable between each the cable loads a little program on both and you just drag and drop what you want from one to the other. It is easy as that

This will allow you to transfer documents etc from one machine to the other - it will not migrate applications automatically...
