Hi all I want to connect the above laptop to my tv what cable would be recommended. My tv is a Philips 42inch HD with three HMDI inlets.

It doesn't appear that laptop has a HDMI output, so assuming both the TV and the laptop both have a VGA port then you'd need a standard VGA cable and a separate lead for the audio.

Hi Chuck tried the VGA cable but no luck is there any way of adding a HMDI port to the laptop.

No you can't add a HDMI

You have to enable the VGA output on the laptop for it to work though, I think it's FN + F5 to switch the VGA on with Acers

I am not to well up on my laptop but could you explain further about FN + F5 please.

Hold down the key labelled FN which is in the bottom left of the keyboard and while keeping that key held down press F5 along the top of the keyboard.

It should cycle the display between laptop screen only, laptop screen and external monitor at the same time and external monitor only.
