Can anyone help?
I need a copy of DOS 6 or higher (preferably 6.2 ish) and would like info on where I could download one.
I've bought a book 'about 4 foot thick' !! thinking it would come with a copy of the programme but it doesn't
A free copy would be nice but, if I have to go without dinner for one day, a reasonably priced copy would have to suit!!
Grateful for any help as usual.

from the Windows start menu, use Run... to run cmd.exe
You might find it easier to get hold of a copy of Win95 or Win98 which both run under DOS. Editing the msdos.sys file and changing the entry "BootGUI=1" to "BootGUI=0" will allow you to boot the machine straight into DOS.

Thank you for your interest mythel. I do have a 3.5 drive if that's what you mean by vintage!!
I'm running XP at the moment which will run older progs in compatability mode but I wanted to be able to use MSDOS 6.2 on other machines in the family when trouble occurs so, if it's possible, I would like to have the DOS programme on a separate disc in order to run it on another machine in order to use all it's facilities, is that possible?
As you can see, despite what my family thinks, at 86 I'm not exactly a computer expert but in the very early days of CPM!!! I did manage to teach myself 'BASIC' and get around a computer quite well writing programmes for myself and family.
Grateful for any help, thank you.
