Yes just install Firefox .. .and a few add-ons that (might) be useful to you. Set it as default browser.
That should do you fine.
What's "wilf"?

Wilf...What am I Looking For...as in,I'm not doing anything special, just wilfing.lol
Ah right, OK :)

As Al said, any decent browser will let you do all that, firefox is my personal choice too but any of the big ones will work fine (ie is crap though!)
At least that wasn't with an 'M'
Abbreviations could mean anything; why don't folk take the time to write out the words...
This question refers to poster wanting to buy a new PC (see question below)

Any computer will do what you want.

Media streaming (iplayer etc) is more dependant on your broadband speed than your computer speed.

You could have the fastest computer in the world, but if your broadband was slow iplayer would still stutter and have delays.

On the other hand if you had a slow computer and fast broadband then it would probably show iplayer just fine.

Thx to you all. VHG where I am the broadband speed is horrifically slow, less than 0.75mb,so I'm trying to get the fastest I can from my new PC to compensate for the bt cable system
Your PC won't compensate for having such a slow internet connection. The PC can only work as fast as the data is sent to it. That's like having a petrol shortage and thinking a Ferrari will solve your problem because you'll get where you need to go faster. It doesn't work like that.
