I have waited about four hours to be able to use my laptop. The air is blue, I wanted to do some work on it and it just ignored me and carried on being busy updating or whatever it does. It is lucky I didn't chuck it outside I am so mad. Surely there must be some way to stop it from carrying on without warning when you are needing to use the Bl*&K@ thing. Rant over. thank you.

Hmmm, they seem to know when you need to do something urgently - any other time they are doormant ! ! One whiff of 'Google it' and it goes into update, scan, download new version of this n that mode !

It depends what it was updating.

If it was Windows Update then you can set it so that it only TELLS you about the update and you can download it at some time that suite you better.

Go into Windows Update and select "Change Settings".

btw I am, surprised it took 4 hours, unless you have a VERY slow internet connection. A Windows update should only take 15 minutes or so (unless you have LOADS of updates to install)

Dunno it started busying as soon as I logged on, no warning the blasted thing is still flickering but at least I can do something now.
