I am running IE8 with Windows 7 with no difficulties. Why do you say they're not compatible?

I just tried downloading and got the 'will not run' message. Do you have a link that might restore the shreds of my sanity?
Eh....

Windows7 has been out for quite some time now, IE9 has only just been released. What browser do you think came with windows7 before IE9 was released?
Just uninstall IE9

Thanks Chuck.......the thing is I don't really care what came out when or whatever I just want it to work without irritating thre poop outa me.
I will as you kindly recommend uninstall IE 9 in the belief that this will enable IE8 to magically appear. I got this lappie a few days ago and it had IE 9 plus lovely stuff like Macafee, office 2007 trial and god knows what. I have the same problems with new shoes, have to get them right before I like them.

Well guys - that didn't work. No IE at all once it's turned off. Can't download IE8 either. Any actual links from which I can defintely download IE8 to a windows 7 OS?
Question Author
Clearly not. Cheers fellers, but on this ocasion, so much you know....
Sorry, I didn't realise it was a new computer, I assumed IE9 had been installed via windows update.

The links to the download of the full versions of IE8 are here... (they all link to Microsoft's own site)

Try the vista or the server2008 versions.
I installed IE9 a few weeks ago, didn't like it so tried to go back to IE8 but found I was unable to, so I was stuck with IE9. After a bit of pulling my hair out it now seems just the same, a bit like getting a new car with the indicators on the other side and the switches in different places thats all.
Are you sure you can't remove it though...

I had a couple of goes( I'm no expert) but didn't seem able to, when I went back to the Windows website I couldn't find the option to reinstall IE8. Still doesn't matter now I'm quite happy with IE9 now I've got used to it.
