...or is it the triumph of useless design over functionality?
It's irritated me just toooooo far. Is it just my attitude that's wrong?

I've not looked at IE9 (and I've no intention of doing so) but your view seems to match what nearly everyone says about Microsoft product 'upgrades'. i.e. that simple tasks usually end up being much harder!

Do what nearly everyone else around here does. Switch to Firefox (which is what I use) or to Chrome.

Chris
Couldn't agree more buenchiko - I find Chrome is best all round.

I had IE9, and went back to IE8, only because I can get a print preview when downloading from the Times Crossword Club!

Most interesting chaps - i use chrome but there are some things it plays up with - virgin email being one....so I dip into IE......the new laptop has IE 9 BUT NOT FOR MUCH LONGER......
You're not alone, mosaic, I think it's horrible.
Mosiac, I assume you are aware that Virgin doesn't use the standard ports (25 &110)
now for E-mails?
Just a thought!!!
me too, awful bloody pop up thing on the bottom of the screen
Not sure why that would be relevant to a browser based email system, Wak?
"the new laptop has IE 9 BUT NOT FOR MUCH LONGER...... "

unfortunatley you can cannot delete it.

I have upgraded to Firefox 4, but I much prefer 3.
Sorry Chuck, must have mis-read something! I assumed Mosaic was having problems getting his Virgin E-mails through IE and Outlook Exp. and had the settings still on 25 and 110.
Must get these glasses changed!!!!!!
