Hi, I have installed a wireless repeater in the converted loft so that my kids could get stronger signals as our router is at the ground floor. I think that now I am getting signals through that repeater where I don't need to as I am usually near the router itself. I believe so because I did setup the repeater on my laptop too. Now my signals keep on dropping. How can I delete that from my laptop only? I can see this under "network infrastructure" along with my router but I don't know how to get rid of this from my laptop as I don't think I need it. Thanks,

You haven't said what OS you are using and what make of router and signal extender you are using . Once the network is set up it shouldn't make any difference where you are as it will be the same.
In my limited experience I found the wireless device asked which WiFi to connect to, as mine had different names for original & extended. Is that not so with yours ?

No, mine connects automatically to Tenda, the name of my router.

But my worry is that it might be connecting to Tenda through that repeater that is in the loft. So in other words signals might be going up to the loft and then down again to my laptop.
Seeing as you have Windows 7 open the Network and Sharing Center and run a full map of your network this should give an indication of your signal path.
