Shortly after browsing through sites like Amazon I get adverts suggesting similar items I have viewed. These adverts even appear here on AB as well as other sites I visit.

Is there anything I can do about this ?

I have Malwarebytes (Free version) plus Panda Endpoint Protection.

Windows 7. Firefox.

It's not phishing it's nosing where you've been. You can run something like superantispyware that will identify cookies that do this and delete them for you.
There are various add-ons that you can use in Firefox; amongst those that I use, or have used, are Ghostery, BetterPrivacy, DoNotTrackMe, NoScript, Self-Destructing Cookies, RequestPolicy.
(and the one that removes adverts but which can't be named here)
There are also browser settings that you can use (in the privacy section of Firefox options) such as never accepting third-party cookies (the Self-Destructing Cookies add-on that I gave before would get rid of those anyway). Because of my dislike for Google I also block all cookies from that company.

Thanks to you both.

All cleaned up.

Cheers.

Get a Firefox 'Add-on' and be free of all adverts.

Adblockplus is what you need.

Hans.

Thanks, Hans. That's the one I chose.
