Is ther another option for getting online rather than internet explorer as every few minutes I get a message saying IE has stopped working and the screen locks, I was using aol via a desktop icon but am now using bt but there's no icon available that I can find. This question was written on my phone as I tried and failed several times on PC due to ie stopped working. The computer was only reset a couple of weeks ago but even if I was to buy a new PC ie would probably continue to stop working and I'd be in the same position would be very interested to know of other ways to get online. Thanks

Google Chrome or Firefox
Do you actually manage to access the Internet before IE seizes up?
How was your connection set up?
You could try using another browser.IE is pretty rubbish but it shouldn't be freezing like that. Might be a more fundamental issue

Hi both I've tried to type this reply 3 times on PC and given up. The screen actually allowed me to type 13 words before a banner across the bottom says" theanswerbank.vo.uk is not responding so I've just closed it down again and a box appears saying 1. Check for a solution and close the program.. Or. 2. Close the program. When I check for solution nothing happens do either of you know how internet was accessed through aol?
I'm not familiar with AOl but I'm sure somebody who is will be along shortly.
IE is just one of many browsers.

As has been suggested use Firefox or Chrome

https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox

Have you applied the updates for IE - something on the page(s) you are viewing is causing IE to crash.
paul you stated that - theanswerbank.vo.uk is not responding. Is this a typing error? it is .co.uk
If you really want AOL then you can d/l it from here. All I would say is that it is based on IE.

http://info.aol.co.uk/browser/

I'd go for Firefox, which is my browser of choice, downloadable from here,

https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/new/

However, I would suggest that part of your problem may be a poor internet connection. How are you connecting your pc and more details of your pc?

chrome very popular too...

thanks all for your answers, i'll try them using your links as I wouldn't know where to find them otherwise. Wolf63 it was a typo by me,
I find if I ever use IE to access Answerbank it always hangs.

I did report it a month or so back.

Use Chrome instead.

Get it from here

Another obvious question is:
Do other sites work?

5th attempt to add an answer so gone back to phone again, no baldric, I'm not using the dongle anymore as bt got their act together on the 29th ands said problem was fixed within 2 mins at the exchange (so could've fixed it Xmas eve but why should they) and vhg it sounds the same sort of thing as what you were going through maybe just an. IE/answerbank problem as it seems nowhere near so bad on other sites

I was having similar problems for a while with BT and IE, changed to Chrome no problems since.
Internet Explorer is most unreliable; especially with Answerbank. Get another Browser but avoid Google Chrome which is most intrusive and will track all your Internet Searches.

You can have as many Browsers as you wish. I have five......Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari, SeaMonkey and the one which I use the most...Firefox. In fact I think you will find that the majority of ABs Techies favour Firefox.
