...I didn't want to "complete" this supposed "checkout", there is no sign of it in my recent purchases and it's not in my basket as I deliberately did not purchase it!
How do I make it *** off?
TIA
Mal.

Strange. Have you tried clearing the PC cache ?
Is it shown as a purchase. If so, go back to checkout and delete the article.
I think the inportant thing is to make sure you dont get charged for nothing

sorry Mal, I know this is not an answer to a question how do I get an error message to sad off
Doesn't want to be charged for nothing; but probably doesn't want to be charged for anything either.

Actually PP what I typed is a rather old fashioned six-letter word beginning with B and ending with R, it's also afaik a legal term.
I think AB's swear filter defaults to three asterisks to make it difficult to work out what the 'offending' word is.

OG ...maybe "for nothing" was meant to be read as similar to "for no reason".
Mal, has your problem been solved?
Question Author
Hi Danny. Well only in as much as the message has not been repeated. What may have confused the situation is that I made a different purchase from the same seller. I was initially interested in another item, then changed my mind and purchased the other one. That one is in my "recent purchases" list and is marked as paid for and confirmed.
I can't find any record of the other one, other than in the message Ebay sent me saying "checkout incomplete". I think I'd better check my PayPal account and make sure I wasn't charged for it.
(Sorry if this is a bit confusing).
Is it in the 'recently viewed' section?
Question Author
My thinking is that Ebay's checkout is a bit buggy.
I have often seen the basket marked as containing an item, then when I open it it says "You don't have any items in your basket".
I just checked PayPal and there is only the one purchase (phew).
OG was rightly picking up on the double negative "make sure you dont get charged for nothing"
It was probably PP using what he thinks is AB thicko speak - so we'd understand like..
Question Author
Yes it is ..or rather was - I've just cleared it.
Let's hope that has solved the problem. :-)
Question Author
Perhaps, Prudie.
I do think that "for nothing" in this instance may not be meant as parody double negative. ie "nothing" meaning "no item".
Only the man himself can reveal the true deep dark secrets of his linguistic escapades.
I thought PP was correct, but what do I know. Being charged for nothing is certainly what I'd wish to avoid.
