My wireless network is now up and running
Should I tick the box in settings "Allow Broadcast of Name (SSID)" or not ?

I disable mine. It goes a little way to making your network more secure.

If you disable it and someone near you sets up a wireless network they won't know you are there and might end up using the same channel as you are. By broadcasting your SSID they should know to avoid you.

It won't really change that much, as the above suggest. What's far more important is to encrypt the wireless signals: ideally, use WPA(2), instead of WEP.

Pat Flanel - other people can detect that there is a wireless signal, but they won't know the name of the network.
