help !!
Please will someone help? Carrying on from a previous Question, I need additional help. This PC is running alot slower than before & now it states that it has detected malicious spyware. To fix this, I have to Register. This brings up another pop-up, giving the prices to do this (in dollars). I don't want to pay anything. What can I do (for free). I am not very good with computers, as you can probably tell ! The desktop has now got the following icons on it...ContraVirus 2.0, SpywareBot, AVG 7.5 & Spyware Doctor. I haven't got a clue what these are doing, if anything as they all look as though you have to pay for them ?? I AM COMPLETELY STUMPED AS TO WHAT TO DO, PLEASE HELP, as I literally need it spelt out to me, thank you.

You say you are not very good with computers.
I am afraid this is a situation where somebody who DOES know about computers could probably sort it out. Do you have a friend or relative who can help you ?
There are some things I could suggest, but it would take too long to explain them all in this forum. Also, if you delete a file or program that you think looks bad it may stop Windows working.
If you are using Windows XP or Vista try the following.
Press the Ctrl key AND Alt key AND Delete key all together.
You should get a Task Manager window.
Select the Processes tab. This basically tells you what Windows programs are running.
Click on the CPU column. This tells you which programs are running and using up the CPU.
Normally if the computer is idle the System Idle Proces is top with about 99% if the computer is not doing anything.
Are there any other programs in the list that have a number in the CPU column ?
If so it may be the program that is making your PC go slow.
If there is a program dont do anything with it, just let us know what the program is.
Close the Task Manager window by clicking on the top right.

oxfordrocks...what is wrong with advising someone to join an MSN group where they can get help for free. I have been a member of that group for several years and they have helped me and many thousands of other people to sort out their PC's. They are not frauds or people who think they know it all but don't. The group used to be owned/managed by MSN who then handed it over to the managers who run it now....by the way MSN is a subsidiary of Microsoft.
