I've been with Orange for almost 12 months and am looking to move to another provider. Looking at the various BB packages, Tiscali appears to be a good deal currently as they include the BT line rental in the package cost.

This has surely got to be a good offer - has anyone had experience of Tiscali, good or bad - would be interested in hearing comments from all you ABr's

Hi webdude
We have had Tiscali as our provider for the last 3 years, we have never had any problems at all, we have the package which includes all free landline phone calls, and pay 23.99 monthly, and have also been paying about 10.50 monthly to BT for the line, we are now in the process of upgrading to have free line rental included in the package at 19.99, we have to pay 30 set up fee, which includes a free wireless router, so it seems well worth the set up fee. Hope this helps.......welsh

Thanks welsh, can I ask how you make the phone calls? With Orange I can only make free outgoing calls using their wireless router, i.e. using VOIP technology, and that menas we have to have two sets of phones, one for incoming calls via the BT line and another for the outgoing VOIP connection, which is the real reason I want to drop Orange.
I know a lot has been written against TalkTalk but I have had no trouble. In one package, all landline calls free plus international calls at any time, broadband with generous limits and BT landline rental included, for 20.00. I am well pleased.
I have been with TalkTalk for over a year now and I find them Brilliant. The package I have is good as well with free calls.

Before I was with tiscali and they was rubbish and when I phoned them up to resolve my broadband problem they didnt know what they was doing at all and i ended up complining to them down the phone.
Hi again webdude,
we don't have two phones, we just use our normal landline for all our calls, and have just been paying Tiscali 23.99 a month and BT about 10.50 for the line,( calls to mobiles are extra) but when the upgrade is sorted we'll pay 19.99 for both, after we pay the 30.00 set up fee, and we have had no problems at all so far in 3 years, fingers crossed!!..................welsh
Oh nearly forgot!!! you do get some international calls free with Tiscali too, have a look at the website.................welsh

Hi welshlibranr,
Thanks for that info re the phone connection - I think I'll take a look at Tiscali and Talk Talk - thanks all
Have you looked into Orange's recent deal where you take out an 18 month contract which includes all international and UK calls at no charge, broadband complete with router, upto 8 gbts download and your BT line rental all in one package?? If this is'nt enough to whet your apetite, for the first 6 months you only pay 12 per month after which your monthly payments revert to 24 permonth. I changed over two months ago frrom Virgin media, which was a good package by the way, and so far have no regrets. The staff at Orange are very helpful too

Thanks for this daydreamer72, but the main reason I will be leaving Orange shortly is the Livebox phone system. Ours is a largish house, and that means we have had to buy two phones for every room where we want to be able to both answer and make calls (without incurring BT charges that is).

Also using Orange VOIP over the Livebox also has major drawbacks - often people cant hear us when we make a call, it can take a long time for calls to connect, and the biggest problem is that because Orange is owned by a French company, all calls via the Livebox are routed to France and then back to the UK. So what I hear you say, but the fact of the matter is that because all calls are effectively routed to the UK from France, anyone in the UK who has caller ID will think its an international call, and often will not answer for that reason. In addition, some large organisations also wont pick up what they believe is a foreign call, i.e. ACAS. So all in all we are not fans of the Orange phone system, and cant wait to move to another ISP.
