What's the purpose of Windows Live ID? Sometimes when I'm browsing my computer files a box pops up telling me to sign in Windows Live ID? Why should I? There's no 'don't ask me again' box to check. Is it just Microsoft being nosey (as usual)? Any way I can stop it please?

Windows Live ID used to be called NET.passport and is needed to access most MSN sites. Do you use MSN Messenger or Groups? Even Hotmail is part of the same grop of sites.

Maybe your computer is trying to automatically connect to one of those?

I try to steer clear of anything MSN or Hotmail but I am in one MSN group which I visit from time to time, so thank you for your answer. I'll go and check it out, my info may need updating.

Thanks again.
