My friend is with bt broadband and is having trouble connecting to internet.
BT have told her to borrow a modem to find out if her modem is faulty.
Mine is cable, so no good, but my sister has a thomson speedtouch, does anyone know if this will work with her broadband.
My friend`s is a BT voyager.

pretty much every broaband modem will work with every ADSL suppliers,

as it happens BT voyger's modems are normally just rebranded thomson speedtouches modems so she may not even have to install new drivers if she is lucky.

If she does need a new modem tell her to get a router, even if she doesn't need it now may come in handy in future.

Thank you ,thought it would be ok, she probably will get a router, as the BT voyager is a router, although she`s never used it wirelessly.
modems and routers are very different so it gets a bit more complicated

there are many differences between modems and routers but the main one here is with a modem the computer takes care of the username and password whereas a router takes care of that side of it on it's own.

This means that to test the connection with your sisters router it will have to be re setup with the corrct username and password for you friends account and then changed back when given back to your sister

Probably easier to simply insist to BT that you are unable to test it with another modem and insist they send a replacement.
