ZoneAlarm update
6 Answers
After the problem with the microsoft update messing ZoneAlarm up, I got offered an update from ZoneAlarm this morning which is supposed to cure the problem. Ttouble is, when I tried to install it I got the following error message
"Firefox can't find the server at dl4.zonealarm.com."
This was when I followed the link for the free update. There was also a link which seemed to require some sort of payment, maybe that one works, but as I'm unemployed I cant afford that. Any other ABers managed to download this? I'd be happier if I could set the firewall back to max strength.

I then UNINSTALLED the existing ZoneAlarm on my PC, then rebooted, then installed the file I just downloaded.
This worked for me.

Note that if you EVER get a pop up window asking for some sort of payment NEVER pay it.
There are quite a few scam web sites for security software that display a message saying " you have 400 viruses on your PC, pay $29.99 to download this software to fix them".
As I said, these are all scams trying to get you to part with your money.
There is plenty of free excellent security software out there and you should never need to pay for any.

Hi all,
I came back from shopping at mid-day and ZoneAlarm offered me the update again. This time it worked and I saved the *.exe file and ran it and it installed perfectly. Must have been a small hiccup in the first offering that prevented internet access again.
Now I can set the firewall to high again! Great.
