Searching your picture?

I was wondering if there was a way other than tineye.com to find anywhere your picture was on the internet.
The reason I would like to find this out is I've recently come across an online profile using my pictures and would like to make sure no-one else is so I can find them and have them reported.

Awww...I can't open the link JL, but annoying as though it must be, I understand that a person's pic can be posted anywhere on the internet provided it's not for gain or to be used in an abusive way. I'm sure others on here'll be able to tell you more than I can - but hope you're shown in a complimentary way!

If you post a picture onto the internet, there is no way of guaranteeing that it won't be posted elsewhere.

The best you can do is look for it via search engines and ask that it's removed. But you can only do that if the site you posted it on was via a copyright agreement.

Posting a picture on Facebook, for example. You have agreed to their Terms, so you can't expect it not to appear on other sites.

If you don't want it to be seen, just don't post anything, or choose the sites you post on carefully.

Do they link directly to your picture via a URL or have they just nicked it and uploaded it to their server?

If it's the former, (called hotlinking) you could change the picture to something a lot less family friendly, which should soon stop them.

I often go through my logs and have found people hotlinking to resources on my site. One of them stole a flash game I made, so I changed the flash file to redirect to a page of adverts. It didn't stop them but at least I got a bit of revenue from people playing it.

I often see eBay listings where the picture has been changed to a very rude picture or a message along the lines of: I am a photo thief. Ask yourself what else have I stolen. Buy the real thing at my eBay shop.....
because the user has hotlinked to another sellers photo.

Very difficult to protect your copyright online, unless you watermark your pictures, but even so it is not impossible to remove watermarks.
If you don't want your pictures copied, don't put them on the internet is the best advice.

You don't need to have a copyright agreement or anything else to protect your images or text, they are intellectual property and using them without consent is theft. The trouble is finding and prosecuting the offender, which is a nightmare and often near on impossible as they are frequently in another country.

You also need to read the Terms and Conditions on any forum or messenger/chat site that you post on. They often make posessive claim to anything you post and as you can only join by agreeing, you have blown your copyright.

They have stolen the pics and uploaded them to their own server. The site they are posted on (myspace) does not allow people to post pictures they do not own without that persons consent:

"8 Content/Activity Prohibited. The following are examples of the kind of Content that is illegal or prohibited to post on or through the MySpace Services. MySpace reserves the right to investigate and take appropriate legal action against anyone who, in MySpace's sole discretion, violates this provision, including without limitation, removing the offending Content from the MySpace Services and terminating the Membership of such violators. Prohibited Content includes, but is not limited to Content that, in the sole discretion of MySpace:

8.14 includes a photograph or video of another person that you have posted without that person's consent;"

and also here:

"8.25 impersonating or attempting to impersonate another Member, person or entity;"

I am doing what myspace ask for to delete the profile, which is to send a salute of a picture of myself with my friend id and the fake profile in question and they will have it deleted.
