Can anyone advice a novice how and where I begin to build a website?? I have loads of photos and video etc that I would love to put together on a website for my Grandchildren to see. I have seen some amateur sites with hyperlinks, and "click to enlarge" thingies which I would love to do! I have some knowledge of computing but not brilliant!!

Use Google sites. It's free AND so easy for what you want to do.
google is a good start - quick and easy
but then consider taking the time to use your webspace
Why not put the videos on YouTube and the photos on Flickr.

Cant see they point of building a web site when there are web sites around that already offer this service.

Hi,

An easy to use and really excellent template step by step builder (using flash, so no-one can steal your content, which they can if HTM or HTML) is MOONFRUIT.COM, I've used them for circa 10 years and never been disappointed.

Once you've registered, uploaded your data, invite your relations to join the FB site to view all.
