Mavica FD90 camera.
I own a Sony Mavica FD90 camera which has given me splendid service. However, I recently discovered that the lcd display screen has 'crazed', the camera probably having had a knock of some sort. It still operates perfectly, but I cannot get a picture on the lcd display and obviously I cannot see what I am taking!! I have managed to buy a brand new lcd display screen for a very reasonable price (under 12 inc postage & vat) and I wonder if a competent person would be able to put this camera together. It would not be worthwhile paying over 100 to get this repaired as I may as well put the money towards a new camera. Thanks for any advice, Trish.

Some cameras are plastic molded, so there are no screws to take out to make it easier to replace parts. It is possible, but you (or whoever repairs it) would have to be really careful when taking it apart, so that all bits go back in the right place.
I've taken apart a camcorder before to replace a part, but it was a long job. Had to put it back together with super glue in the end as the screw housing broke.
Sorry I'm rambling now! Yea a competent person should be able to repalce it. Go slow and keep notes of where things go. If all else fails take it in bits to a repair shop.
Meta - thank you for your help. The camera does have two small philips screws at top of whole of camera front (incorporating lcd display). Will take note of your advice. Sorry about your own experience - think you may have been a little ham-fisted. Trust all ended well! Thunderchild - re lcd screen, mine is a Sony, haven't researched any other make. Can only tell you that I ordered the part from: Sony Regional Authorised Service Centre (YMM), Spares & Accessory Dept., Unit 3, Spencer Business Centre, Factory Lane, Dudley Hill, Bradford, BD4 9NW. Phone: 0870 0433930. Hope this is useful. Regards to both, Trish.
