Frozen ipad

My ipad has been working perfectly well until about an hour ago when everything seemed to freeze up. If I press Safari, Google doesn't open, if I try to go up to bookmarks, again nothing happens. It just appears to have frozen. I would be very grateful if anyone could advise me on what I can do to rectify the problem, which has never happened before. Many thanks, in hope!

Try restarting it. Hold down the power on/off button until it forces it to turn off (10 - 20 secs). Leave for 30 secs and then turn it on again.
