I downloaded a program called Youtube Downloader and now I keep getting a pop-up message as follows:-
'Search Settings Notification - A program was blocked from changing your default settings. Click to change your notification settings'.
Each time I close the pop-up box, the blooming thing pops up again and it's driving me mad. Can anyone advise me please?

I would uninstall it if I were you.
Check out the licence conditions:
"THE COMPANY KEEPS RIGHT TO USE CUSTOMER'S COMPUTER TO PERFORM MARKETING ACTIVITIES LIKE GATHERING, TRACKING AND ANLYZING SEARCH KEYWORDS, MODIFYING TYPED TEXT AND ADDING SIGNATURES TO E-MAILS AND FORUM MESSAGES ETC."

"Yes, that's the one! I've just uninstalled it. :o("
Well, that on installs a toolbar, and changes your default search provider to Yahoo, which explains why your system was complaining: "'Search Settings Notification - A program was blocked from changing your default settings."
It also give no choice to opt out at Installation time. You'll probably find that it's also installed a few shortcuts to other web sites (such as eBay and Amazon) on your desktop.
