Hi my neighbour is here to see why she can't find scan she did. It is an HP 3 in 1 printer and windows 7 laptop. When she scans document and selects scan to pc it shows up in my documents but will not open to show what she has just scanned. It does show up in my scans as date it was scanned but nothing will open. Anyone know why or can give any help on this. Thanks.

Is she 'saving' the scan as a proper file?
Most scanned images are displayed .. but are NOT a real file until they are properly saved somewhere in the correct format.
What type of scan is it? Text .. Picture .. How is the scan interface set for that type of scan?

Hi Albags she says it does say something about the file but she was not sure ,think I will go across with her and have a look. It is a text document she is trying to scan she says it comes up save this as pdf or tif file or something she has tried saving both but no joy with either. She says she set it to text. Not sure myself as mine totally different I have no probs with my scans. Thanks for help
OK. Make sure it is set to text scanning .. Save as tiff and open with a photo program (because that is a picture)
To save as a Word doc, etc needs OCR (character recognition .. added or built-in)
Check where it is saving.

thanks albags. How does she save as a word doc ? How do I check for OCR. Will take note where it is saving. I will have a look and get back to you later.
The scan program will have it integrated. Then you can save in many Office formats. If it's simple software then it won't.
That's why you have no choice but to save text as a picture.
I have an HP B110 series 3in1, which does come with OCR and the software with it allows for all manner of How/What/Where etc to suit the project in hand....with shorcuts for the more useful...for example....

• On the Scan Shortcuts tab, the Scan Type should be Document.
• On the Document/OCR Settings tab, the OCR Language value should be the language used in the text.
.....there has to be a setting for " save TO" in the software..and there will be the specifications if only on the www which would say yeah/nay to OCR.
Mine came with a nice program HP Solutions Centre to operate the printer from the Laptop....It's the wireless version btw.

Hope these ramblings might help some...;-)
