What am I doing wrong? My brother is in a care home. To make his life more bearable, I bought a Freeview box from Tesco's. I transferred the aerial from the TV to the Freeview box (The other end is 'in' the wall - no doubt to an outside aerial of the Home) and then plugged in the scart lead from Freeview to TV. I can get quite a few stations but the sound is spasmodic. Why?

(You can buy cheaper boosters but most of them don't provide the same level of signal gain as the Maplin product).
