On my old lappies, Windows Mail would check for new mail every 1 minute.

I have a new lappy with Windows Live Mail.

Waaaaay too many icons, frankly!

How do I set WLM to automatically go and check for new mail?

Open Windows Mail. Click Tools. At the bottom click Options. Under send/receive mail 3rd box you can change the time of automatically checking mail.
or .......... click on the tab to the left of "Home" .......... top left corner

1 minute is a ridiculously short time to have it auto checking, set it to 5 minutes minimum.
