I would like to use an old washing machine motor to be used on a home made seiving machine. The motor is from a Whirlpool MCA 45/64. It has wires on both brushes and 4 other wires from inside the motor Yellow, Black, Blue and Brown. Info please....Privacybill

Don't even bother trying... washing machine motors are designed to be used with electronic speed controllers, you can't just wire them straight to the mains.

You won't need much for a sieving machine, spend the £50 or so it would cost to buy a motor and save yourself a lot of grief.

If you want a cheap mains motor you need to get one from an old twin-tub machine, if you know what that is.
