Why not check out the ebay site and read their user guides? They have one for sellers and one for buyers.

Failing that, there are some books on trading on ebay that you could probably find in your local computer bookshop, e.g.

What are you doing ceh?  Buying or selling?

Selling is really tricky to get right, for certain types of goods.

Just using ebay is one of the best educations in it.

I have found that for lots and lots of ebay questions the best site is below, you can access it by clicking the link and asking your specific question:

I found that the community help board at Ebay was really helpful.  There's one post that is on there (http://forums.ebay.co.uk/thread.jspa?threadID=200028307&tstart=0&mod=1115758625846) which gives you lots of tips on selling and I'm sure you'd find a similar one for buying.  Whenever I've got in a bit of a muddle on Ebay I've posted a question in their forum and received really helpful answers very quickly.
