motherboard questions

hi , im trying to give my sisters pc a bit of an upgrade via ebay ,this is the mobo in question:

it currently has a pentium 2 333mhz cpu and 64 mb of ram ,i was going to put in a pentium 3 733mhz cpu and get 256 sdram ,

the thing im not sure about though is which sdram to get (i.e 66/100/133mhz) .do i have to match the ram to the cpu ,in this case its 133 i think.

if this is the case i presume the old 64 mb of ram would be no good anymore?

also, would i have to make any changes in the bios if i went through with the new cpu.

any advice would be appreciated.thanks

I would flash the BIOS with the latest upgrade so it will "see" the newest CPU (PII 733). It may well work with the new CPU but will read it as the wrong frequency. Do this with the old PII CPU. Since it supports a 133 MHz FSB, I would get PC133 SDRAM. It also supports 512 MB per DIMM slot but 1x 256 or 2x 128s will work just fine. If you want, you could buy another 64 chip and a 128 to up it to 256 in total. You can mix and match 100 and 133 MHz RAM but it performs better if they are all the same frequency. I expect PC 133 is cheaper and more common than PC 100 RAM. It looks to be quite a flexible mainboard and, BTW, I've got a PIII 733 FC-PGA socket CPU you can have for nothing if you want it.
