Sorry, didn't know where else to put it. Bought something on eBay, didn't get it. contacted seller, etc, etc. Opened case with eBay - seller provided proof of purchase andebay have closed my case!!!! Out of pocket and no purchase - what am I supposed to do now? (only £11 but it's the principle!!!!).

Surely the seller has to provide proof of delivery, not proof of purchase.
Why have eBay closed your case, they have to tell you what they've done, and if the case is closed, they should refund your money. Have you contacted them?
do you mean they supplied proof of posting sher?
I never get proof of delivery, only proof of postage, that's sufficient for eBay/PayPal seller protection.
The seller should be the one who seeks a refund/compensation from the Royal Mail. In the meantime they should refund your money, as they haven't you should try taking this up with Paypal.
Phone them Sher...... they're MUCH more helpful on the phone.

They provided proof of posting but I haven't received the items - got a message saying something along the lines of 'not our fault if the PO messed up' - I know it's not but surely proof of posting is for the seller to claim on.

Hi all - if I actually phoned them in this frame of mind I would rip their heads off!!! It's the tone of their reply that has hacked me off!
A decent seller would refund you and then claim from the RM. I know you have to wait a certain amount of days to do that though.
It is the sellers responsibility to ensure the item gets to you and if it gets lost in the post they should refund you and then they take up the case with the post office. You can't claim on the post office because you never had a contract with them to deliver the item.
If the seller has proof of postage then (and this is what I've had to do if things go missing) the seller has to raise the claim with Royal Mail and after a while they will refund the value of the goods. The seller then gives the money back to you (nb Royal Mail don't refund postage). Did you pay by PayPal? In which case open the dispute with PayPal, so you can get your money back.

The proof of postage shows that the goods were sent to two doors away (I am so not going there to ask where my stuff is!) - have emailed seller saying that proof of postage is for their protection, not mine, and I will take this further (have also stated that it is the principle, not the cost involved). I have been stung more than once for stuff not arriving and I always cough up.
hang on! so the stuff is not lost at all?!

your neighbour is keeping hold of it until you collect it!

wow...you are expecting the seller or paypal to refund you because the PO delivered to a neighbour??
you are behaving as though the seller has scammed you and that somehow proof of posting is out of order because it protects them, not you...well obviously! thats what POP is for!
i wouldnt be surprised if ebay have checked who has signed for the parcel or the address it was delivered to and think YOU'RE the one trying it on!

your neighbour has been kind enough to take delivery of your goods and is probably wondering why you havent been to collect it!
it is not for them to come to you you know!

im gobsmacked that you would kick up this fuss when you know where it is!

"rip their heads off"... "its the principle" - ?!
you need to get a grip...

IF my neighbour has it, they have no intention of passing it on to me - I am not going to ask them for it. They know my surname as we have children in the same class at school.
I don't think you stand a chance of getting the money back until you have asked the neighbour for the parcel.
If they say they haven't got it/never received it then you can ask that the seller gets a refund from the Royal Mail and refunds your money.
You have to have at least asked the neighbour for this to go ahead now though.
This is'nt an "Ebay problem" at all .. it's a neighbour problem.
Shame on you for slating ebay and the post office..!
I'd say that the main point now is who made the mistake that caused it to go to the wrong address.

If they seller sent it to the wrong address then it doesn't really matter if it's 2 doors away or 200 miles away, it's their fault.

If you made the error that caused the seller to send it to the wrong address then it's ultimately your fault.

Though I do think you are being petty by complaining and saying you'll rip their heads off when you are not prepared to knock on a door and ask if a package has been delivered to them by mistake (unless you happen to be 7)
if you tell them that you KNOW they have it - as royal mail have informed you of this, they HAVE to give it to you...it is theft otherwise - you have PROOF they have it, so its hardly likely they will just say no...!

you cannot expect them to come to you... if i take a parcel in for a neighbour - they collect it from me - i do not deliver...

you do not have a leg to stand on... you cannot bandy rouud all this threatening outraged tone, as though you have been wronged, when EVERYONE EXCEPT you has done exactly as expected...

why should the seller lose cash and goods because you wont walk 2 doors down?

i would laugh in your face i am afraid if you demanded a refund from me when the goods are with your neighbour and you knew it

in futurem you can request that the PO dont leave your post anywhere...but if its a courier you cant really control it...
Can't believe this!!

If you were out when the PO or courier delivered, you're good neighbour took the parcel in to avoid YOU having to go collect it from either the PO or calling the courier to get it re-delivered. I don't know whether you've got a problem with the neighbour but at the moment the problem is YOU.
Easy......find out who conned you and stitch them up!!!
