Do I risk damaging my laser printer if I run an envelope (I'm thinking of the glue on the flap) through it? Will the heat melt the glue?

TIA.

Is it a printer that is designed to print envelopes?
Yes, potentially. You should get envelopes which are specifically designed for laser printers - any decent stationery shop will have them...
most printers have an envelope setting
^^ Indeed, but that doesn't actually stop people feeding unsuitable envelopes into them... :-)

Thanks all. Yes, it does have an envelope setting. Can't say I've ever noticed envelopes especially for laser printers but I'll have a look for them.
I didnt know there were special types either - i usually just put them through - though its to something i need to do often...
mind you, my printer is a deskjet - so not sure if it even has a laser?
or do they all have lasers?

i would suggest feed one through and see if it spoils them

id have thought the heat would not get chance to get that hot because its only a few lines of small text and is out of the machine in a few seconds... i know if you print a photo it can get qute warm
^^ Damaging the envelopes isn't what the OP was concerned about, though...
Have you tried printing onto a label on a sheet of labels?
ah yes of course mark.

but wouldnt it just stick them together? if you folded them shut before feeding...?
theres not enough glue, usuall,y to leak out onto the rollers is there?

I wanted to print a small butterfly in the bottom left-hand corner of a white envelope, to match a birthday card I have made.

I've decided to look for a butterfly stencil, rather than risk using the printer. Thanks for replies, all. x
