Hi there

For some strange reason i have a Microsoft Security Alert icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, reporting that AVG is turned off or not updated. However, I have the most recent AVG updates and it is working properly, so why is the Security Alert Icon still there?? Any thoughts on this??

Thanks in advance

Hi

I have had this too. When the message appears asking you to click this balloon to fix this problem, do so and the security centre should appear. Simply select the option I have an anti virus program I will monitor myself.

This should help. However if it still reoccurs I would suggest downloading the latest install file from AVG and install that.

Hope this helps

Hi I just solved this myself...

Problem wouldn't go away with AVG - In fact - AVG dissapered, maybe it got embarressed and did a runner who knows...

Anyway, if you can still access the net (and have a legit copy of XP) download SP 2, using auto update will help if not "registered" if you manage this it should do the trick.

If not, try to install eTrust EZ Antivirus 2005 - they do a 12 month free trial. As an example, Before AVG (whom I previously thought were pretty good) ran away, I ran virus test and got an all clear.. Upon performing an in depth scan with eTrust I was diagnosed as having upwards of 200 virus/malware instances, frightening as further research indicated alot of this was keyloggers :(  thank god one of the ******* stopped me going onto ebay ;)

Sorry I just looked into it for you..

eTrust EZ Antivirus 2005 is only available as a 1yr free trial in assc with Microsloth..after installing SP2

If you DO need any help getting it sorted email me I could help futher..

I have the same problem

I think it is because I installed the antivirus before installing SP2... maybe
