Maybe a silly Netbook question but...

As I am fairly short on the old memory due to illness,can you upgrade a netbook?
Which one?I hear you shout,that leads to my next question,any recommendations for a cheap upgradable one,or a laptop,if needs must.It is for someone who will be facebooking a lot and also using in collage for 'homework'
One last thing,can you get one without a webcam,or disable it easily?

It rather depends what components you will be wanting to upgrade and what you mean by disable the webcam, if you dont want the webcam then you dont have to use it.

For upgrades,I suppose I mean RAM,or even processor(I know they are not the easiest of things to answer when I am so vague-sorry)and as for the web cam,I don't want the person who it is for enabling it and putting all sorts on the web.

You can upgrade the RAM and maybe the hard drive on most laptops (including netbooks) but that's normally about it.

In my opinion you'd be better off getting a proper laptop than a netbook though.

Yes,I know if I don't want it then I don't activate it,but that does not stop other people (i.e. the person it is for)doing it does it?
Back to the subject of upgrades,with RAM and Hard drive,will 'plug in' external ones work? ( I don't even know if you can get external RAM)

External RAM would be a novel idea (there's no such thing)

External hard drives would work.

If you want to disable the webcam it can be done in the BIOS of the computer and then password protect the BIOS so it can't be re-enabled.
