I've got an 'hp' printer C&S and just lately it refuses to print, it keeps telling me I'm out of paper when I'm not.
It makes grinding noises when I ask it to print then stops & a message comes on screen 'out of paper' I can't see anything visably wrong, its a fairly new one (got it last xmas) so does anyone have any idea's whats wrong & what I can do to right it?

Thankyou Jem

Have a look and see if there are any bits of paper stuck in the paper feed.
The 'out of paper' message can come up if the rollers are jammed, thereby making the printer think no paper is coming through.

There could be torn paper or a jammed sheet in the rollers - open the lid & carefully check round there.
I had these symptoms recently on my printer - also fairly new. I'd been printing s/adhesive labels and one had come adrift inside the machine. I needed help from son and g/son to retrieve the label !

Well, my OH has taken the back off to see the rollers better & there is nothing there to cause the problem blew dust away with hair dryer.
Connected again & now its telling me 'paper jam' I've dug the g'tee out and there's 5 months left soo I'm taking it back & want a new one. Grrrr!!

Thankyou for your answers.

To me printers are now the 'weakest link' in the current technology (ok I know there's now wireless printing) I absolutely hate them-their just a necessary evil....they are SO slow and b****y irritating!
Sorry not to offer any solutions but I do empathise.
