Any way to prevent fast history delete?
9 Answers
When 'someone' borrows my pc I would like to know what sites etc they are going to,but I have noticed that every time they stop using it,they do the old Ctrl+Shift+Del to remove their history. Is there any way of preventing this from working or finding out where they have been visiting?
Just a concerned parent, but don't want them to think I don;t trust them.
Any help would be good
Thanks,
Aya

Then log the computer in as their user account, run regedit as an administrator and then find the following key.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft
\Internet
Explorer\Control Panel
and then in the right hand pane create a DWORD value named "DisableDeleteBrowsingHistory" and set its value to 1
This only affects internet explorer so make sure there are no other browsers they can run.
(this is how I'd do it anyhow)

Thank you,
woolfgang,I am trying an old free programe I got with a magazine,Acespy, but I think it is too old(or I am to figure out how it works)
bednobs-trust has to be earned and they have not yet done that, and I know stuff goes on that they don't want me to see,and to be honest I cannot stop everything,as in PSP,Wii
ChuckFckens-I will do the user account change, but they mainly use Firefox browser, guess I sang it's praises too well.
I am afraid I don't understand your instructions,Then log the computer in as their user account, run regedit as an administrator. What is run regedit,or rather how does one do this when logged in as them?Sorry I am mega basic in stuff at the mo.
VHG,that is what I thought they where doing at first,I understand that will probably be their next move :(
bibblebub-thank you,at least someone knew what I meant
daffy654 -Thanks,but I don't want to block the sites, just be a bit nosey as to what they are doing.
Has anyone ever tried to use any of these spy programs successfully and which one,was it available free? Also can a stupid person understand it?
The last one gave me a screen shot and I never knew what good that would do,I would just like a bit of web history.
I cannot help thinking if they had nothing to hide, they would not delete things so vigilantly, thoroughly and fast.
Thanks for all your answers, post any more EASY bright ideas please!
