Firefox displaying history

When I log into Firefox it shows every single page I have visited the previous day, in big, on the screen. Any idea how I can stop this? At the moment I am deleting them one by one. It gives you the option to clear all history but that means cookies and cache etc. I just want to hide them from the opening screen, not get rid of them completely?

Close the history display panel then close firefox and it shouldn't display them next time you load firefox.
