Panasonic DVD recorder

My husband has a new DVD recorder and is unable to put the owner ID in. He can do the numbers but has no idea how to put in letters (names, address etc) The manual is no use for this. Help please before he drives me mad!!

Use the up and down arrow keys to select letters from the alphabet displayed on the screen.
You didn't mention which model he has, so I just picked a model at random and read the owners guide.

It is a DMR-EZ49VEB combo. There are no letters displayed on the screen! Otherwise I would probably been able to suss it out! Do not know how to get letters up that is the problem. Cannot find anything about it in guide only how to put in owner ID but not how to get letters.
I said just leave it but he wants it done.

Page 14 of the User Guide.
I'm guessing that at step 8, when you press the up and down arrows you will scroll through the letters of the alphabet. So after pressing > to enter name, you then press ^ or v and a letter or number appears, by repeatedly pressing up or down you get to the letter or number that you want, then you press > and start again fro the second character of the name.

Thanks very much rojash. All done now. Have just been in and done it myself - as you suggested scroll up and down.
